Our UK tea factory is one of the largest tea factories in the world. It is a world class, state of the art operation which has pioneered advancements in environmental performance and operational and energy efficiencies. It is proud to be zero waste to landfill and 98% powered by renewable energy sources.
Significant investment in our flagship factory has furthered our sustainability commitments, not least enabling the transition to 100% recyclable packaging for our on-shelf Tetley UK products and for plant-based teabag tissue to work in our high-speed production environment.
Eaglescliffe runs on 100% renewable electricity, with 50% sourced from the grid, and 50% sourced from a dedicated solar farm
One of the first companies in the UK to be accredited to the Energy Management System ISO 50001 in the UK.
Our factory accounts for just 2% of our direct carbon emissions internationally.

Envelopes, Inner Pouches, and Overwraps:
Tetley uses individual envelopes to maintain product freshness; these are fully recyclable. We also use pouches and overwraps for some of our products. These are made of soft plastics and can be recycled via front of store collections points or, where available, via your waste services provider.

Tetley’s large packs are made from soft plastics and are designed for recycling. These can be recycled via front of store collections points or, where available, via your waste services provider.
We are proud members of the UK Plastics Pact and have set a corporate goal to ensure 100% of our packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2030. To achieve this, we collaborate closely with industry bodies and partners to improve recyclability, strengthen infrastructure, and uphold the high quality our customers expect.
